Overall Purpose
You will lead the management of performance functions within South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue (SYFR), ensuring robust data governance, insightful performance reporting, and evidence‑based decision support. The role drives continuous improvement across the organisation by developing and embedding performance management frameworks, coordinating service improvement events, and supporting strategic decision‑making through high‑quality data and analysis.
About the Role
To be considered for this role, you will have a proven track record of managing teams to meet deadlines, as well as experience influencing senior managers. You will be adept at evaluating reports and procedures to identify improvements, writing high‑quality reports, and using analytical tools such as Excel or Power BI to analyse complex data sets. Experience in designing and applying performance management frameworks, and managing multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement performance management frameworks and produce corporate performance reports.
- Oversee data collection systems, ensure data quality, and manage the Data Quality Analysts.
- Roll out data literacy and quality training, review performance indicators, coordinate statutory data returns, and support the development of strategic documents and policies.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of statistical techniques, data quality principles, and relevant legislation such as GDPR.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non‑technical audiences.
- Experience managing teams and influencing senior managers.
- Proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel or Power BI for analysing complex data sets.
- Experience designing and applying performance management frameworks, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
