Permanent, 37 hours per week
NWFRS Grade 06 £31,537 to £34,434 per annum

(Pay is inclusive of 8.5% pay allowance for providing out of hours cover)

Role Summary

We are looking for a Deputy Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Adviser to join our team. Maintaining wellbeing and fitness is a key part of the role of a firefighter and this support extends to all our employees. As a qualified fitness instructor you will assist in the delivery of physical fitness monitoring and the associated education of our employees, including operational firefighters. You will also play a key role in promoting, developing and assisting with the coordination of all aspects of health and wellbeing activities in our Service.

Key Responsibilities

With strong organisational and planning skills, the successful applicant will be required to plan their own work schedule and complete tasks independently across the North Wales area. They will also need to be self-motivated and an effective communicator, dealing with both internal colleagues and external organisations, as well as members of the public in the course of their duties.

Qualification and Experience

Applicants will need to demonstrate (with evidence) against the essential criteria as outlined in the job description and person specification, including:

  • A Degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Studies or related subject
  • Up to date knowledge and awareness of matters relating to physical fitness and nutrition

Working Arrangements and Travel

This role involves travel to various Service locations across North Wales, undertaken flexibly during both office hours and evenings (an allowance of 8.5% will be paid for undertaking duties out of hours). For the office-based elements of the role, the team are normally located in Rhyl Community Fire Station but the ability to undertake agile working either from home or an alternative Service location is available.
