We are seeking to fill an upcoming temporary vacancy for the position of Corporate Communications Manager for a period of up to 12 months. The successful individual will be an integral part of the Corporate Communications Team and report to the Head of Data and Communications. The role will provide leadership of communications activities to enable the service to meet its vision of ‘Creating the Safest Community’, through the delivery of Service Strategy and CRMP.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the TWFRS Values of Safety, Integrity, Inclusivity and Learning, and champion these in their day-to-day work. They will also demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behaviours and champion these in their day-to-day work in compliance with our ethical code of conduct. Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for developing and leading the Service’s internal and external communications and engagement activities across the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.
  • Support the successful delivery of the Service’s Strategy, and strategic goals and priorities, by:
  • Driving and managing a range of communications activities.
  • Contributing to strategic planning and evaluation activities.
  • Providing comprehensive, professional advice and support to the Service.
  • Managing the Corporate Communications Team.
Qualifications
  • Working in public relations, journalism, media or communications environment within a complex organisation.
  • Managing and leading a communications team, with responsibility for people and processes.
  • Liaising with the media/press, with examples of successful outcomes.
  • Managing a team workload, including competing demands and priorities.
  • Developing and implementing internal and external strategic communications.
  • Providing advice and guidance to senior management.
  • Delivering multi-faceted media training.
  • Managing content management systems / websites.
