London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non‑operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front‑line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).

We are seeking two organised and proactive Project Officers to support the delivery of the National Interagency Liaison Officers (NILOs) programme. In these roles, you will provide essential project management guidance, coordination, and reporting across key workstreams, ensuring milestones, deadlines, and governance requirements are met. You will play a central role in monitoring progress against plans, identifying risks, and escalating issues where needed, while contributing to the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations for senior stakeholders.

The roles also involve supporting course administration, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with programme budgeting and forecasting. The role involves working closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure effective communication throughout the programme. The position requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and efficient way. You will also provide secretariat and coordination support to governance forums, ensuring that processes and records are maintained to a high standard. A commitment to continuous professional development, adherence to organisational policies, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion are essential to success in this role.

Security Clearance and Compliance

The role is exposed to sensitive material, necessitating the holder of Security Clearance or the ability to secure it prior to commencing the role. Anyone who has contact with children, young people or adults at risk will be subject to an enhanced DBS check as part of our commitment to safeguarding.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience of working in projects and providing administrative support in a multi‑disciplined organisation including developing, monitoring, reviewing and revising systems in order to apply this to the function of the NILO programme.
  • Well‑developed research and analytical skills in order to analyse and interpret project management and associated products relating to regulations, guidance, standards and codes of practice necessary to the NILO work stream.
  • Excellent inter‑personal skills in order to establish sound working relationships both within and outside the Brigade, especially with key national NILO stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information/data and the legal requirements of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act, particularly how they impact upon the work within Operational Resilience.

Criminal Records Check

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a Standard criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory.
