Overview

Governance Manager – Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service

Location: Sadler Road, Winsford Cheshire

Salary: Scale PM1 £41,771 – £46,142 per annum

Contract: Permanent • Full time, 37 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Service’s Governance and Corporate Planning functions.
  • Work closely with the Monitoring Officer to ensure the Authority operates within the law and its Constitution.
  • Manage the Members’ Allowance Scheme and ensure the Authority has an effective complaints procedure.
  • Lead on the Service’s Corporate Planning activities and collaborate with the Head of Governance (Monitoring Officer) to deliver high-quality services.
  • Provide strong verbal and written communications, demonstrate political sensitivity, and advise Fire Authority Members and senior Officers.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, teamwork, and prioritisation to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to provide clear advice to Members and senior Officers.
  • Demonstrable political sensitivity and judgment.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a focus on teamwork.
