The Infrastructure as a Service Engineering group is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining large scale global physical and virtual server infrastructure.

The team evaluates, certifies, integrates, and supports a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including hardware platforms, hypervisors, Linux operating systems, system configuration tooling, critical infrastructure services, automation platforms, load balancing, high availability solutions, and virtualization management technologies.

The team plays a key role in enabling Dev Ops practices by delivering real time APIs and automation capabilities that support infrastructure as code patterns and provide backend integrations that translate desired state into reliable production outcomes.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced engineer to join the Platform Engineering team.

This role will focus on integrating, testing, securing, and improving multiple infrastructure codebases, with a particular emphasis on vulnerability remediation, code hardening, automated validation, and safe production rollouts.

This is not a role focused solely on implementing predefined fixes.

We are looking for a self-starter who can operate effectively within a complex engineering environment.

The successful candidate will need to understand distributed systems, assess the broader impact of security related changes, design robust remediation approaches, and produce stable, maintainable, and secure code.

They will also be expected to define test strategies, validate changes in nonproduction environments, and support production deployments while minimizing risk and operational impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work across multiple infrastructure and automation codebases to remediate identified security vulnerabilities.
  • Design, implement, and validate secure, stable, and maintainable code changes.
  • Integrate vendor, open source, and internally developed solutions into enterprise infrastructure platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Python and related technologies.
  • Build and improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines, automated testing coverage, and release validation processes.
  • Create test plans and validation procedures for security related code and configuration changes.
  • Use lab and preproduction environments to validate complex changes prior to production deployment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, security, and application teams to assess impact and drive remediation efforts.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, documentation, and technical planning activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in platform reliability, security, and engineering practices.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Strong Linux engineering experience, including system configuration, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and operational support.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and the challenges associated with changing, testing, and operating them safely.
  • Strong Python development skills with the ability to write maintainable, production quality code.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and release automation.
  • Experience with both automated and manual testing methodologies.
  • Ability to create practical test plans, validation procedures, and deployment strategies for complex technical changes.
  • Experience supporting large scale production environments with an understanding of operational risk management.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, vulnerability remediation, secure coding practices, and system hardening.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across operating systems, infrastructure services, automation platforms, networking, and application integrations.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive complex technical issues to resolution.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical risks, options, and recommendations.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Perl in addition to Python.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, virtualization technologies, or private cloud platforms.
  • Experience with vulnerability management, security scanning tools, remediation processes, and audit or compliance requirements.
