Overview

Immediate contract for an experienced Network Engineer to support a programme of office relocations and branch network refreshes across multiple sites. The role encompasses a mix of design and implementation responsibilities, including logical and physical site setup, device configuration, automation via scripting, and configuration deployment through Cisco DNA/Catalyst Centre, alongside user acceptance testing.

Certification Requirement

CCIE (or equivalent CCNP-level experience) with demonstrable expertise in reading enterprise LAN and WAN designs and hands-on implementation.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Campus Cisco network technologies (LAN/WAN)
  • Wi-Fi deployment and performance validation
  • Campus security
  • Cisco Catalyst Centre and automation pipelines
  • Fortinet firewalls
  • Willingness to perform the full range of delivery tasks, from racking and stacking equipment through to end-user liaison

Scope of Work

  • Network Design & Implementation - designs are in place for new sites, with deployment templates under development. Engineers will focus on requirements gathering, implementation, and delivery. The majority of sites are straightforward in nature (typically two switches and a small number of access points).
  • WAN & Firewall Configuration - Most sites leverage internet connectivity with VPN tunnels to data centres and local internet breakout. Fortinet firewalls are the standard platform; engineers are expected to perform basic troubleshooting and testing independently.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance - Engineers will be expected to support execution of defined test plans, with a focus on synthetic and real-user transaction testing, failover scenarios, and ensuring a robust handover to end users.
  • Wi-Fi Survey & Deployment - Engineers will be responsible for physical installation, wireless controller configuration, and performance validation.
