Myn is recruiting on behalf of our long-term client for an experienced Public Health Consultant. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will drive successful change programmes and shape effective health promotion across the region.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Change: Deliver successful change management programmes across organisational boundaries.
  • Media Excellence: Use your media experience to craft and deliver effective health behaviour and promotion messages.
  • Strategic Influence: Work within a political system with professionalism, regardless of personal affiliations.
  • Policy & Practice: Advise on and implement strategies that improve public health outcomes.
  • Quality Improvement: Develop clinical quality assurance, evaluations, and evidence-based public health practice.
  • Collaboration: Engage with senior stakeholders, local and national government, and key partners across health and social care.
  • Data Analysis: Utilise both qualitative and quantitative data, including health economics, to inform strategic decisions.

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Training:

  • Must be included in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a licence to practise, or on the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
  • If you are in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, you must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience in public health practice.
  • Public health specialty registrars not yet on the register must provide verifiable evidence that they are within six months of gaining entry.
  • If UK trained, you must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of its award; non-UK trained applicants must show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • Must meet minimum CPD requirements in line with Faculty of Public Health or another recognised body, with MFPH (by examination, exemption, or assessment) or equivalent.
  • A Masters in Public Health or equivalent is required.

Experience:

  • Proven track record in delivering successful change management programmes.
  • Demonstrable media experience in delivering effective health behaviour or health promotion messages.
  • Experience working within and navigating a political system is essential.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of the health and care system and its links with local and national government.
  • Thorough knowledge of methods for clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, evaluations, and evidence-based public health practice.
  • Strong grasp of the interfaces between health, social care, and key partners dealing with wider determinants of health.
  • Clear understanding of the public sector duty and inequality duty as they apply to public health practice.

Practical Skills:

  • Ability to design, develop, interpret, and implement strategies and policies.
  • A strategic thinker with proven leadership skills and operational acumen.
  • Capable of motivating organisations to enhance public health and wellbeing through mainstream activities within allocated resources.
  • Skilled in leading and managing responses in unplanned and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Analytical skills to utilise both qualitative (including health economics) and quantitative data.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong knowledge of Equality & Diversity issues.
  • Able to influence senior decision-makers, including directors and CEOs.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to working within a political system, regardless of personal affiliations.
