We are currently recruiting an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join the Children in Care (CIC) Team within Halton Borough Council. This role specifically focuses on supporting young people aged 16 to 18 as they prepare to transition to independence or leaving care services. You will be part of a supportive and established team dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for looked after children and care leavers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of young people aged 1618 within the Children in Care pathway.
  • Undertake statutory visits, reviews, and care planning in line with legislation and local procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Personal Advisors, IROs, education providers, housing, health services, and other professionals to support the transition to independence.
  • Ensure young people are prepared for leaving care by promoting their participation in pathway planning and decision-making.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and prepare court reports as necessary.
  • Ensure that safeguarding measures are in place and regularly reviewed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reports on the local authoritys case management system.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker?with a Social Work England registration.
  • Minimum of?2 years post-qualified experience?within children's social care, preferably in a CIC or Leaving Care Team.
  • 3 years perm experience.
  • Strong understanding of the?Children Act 1989,?Care Planning Regulations,?Leaving Care Guidance (2010), and related legislation.
  • Experience working specifically with?older adolescents (1618)?and supporting their transition into adulthood.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
