Were seeking an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join our dedicated team in Dorset and help shape the future of childrens social care.

Dorset has been recognised nationally as one of only three Families First for Children Pathfinder sites, receiving central government funding to pioneer innovative new ways of working with children, young people, and families. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a service that is influencing the national direction of social care.

The role
As a Lead Child Protection Practitioner, you will:

Work within a multi-agency child protection team supporting families subject to Child in Need plans, Child Protection plans, pre-proceedings, and court proceedings.

Undertake statutory assessments, create effective plans, and safeguard the welfare of children.

Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings, ensuring the familys voice remains central to the process.

Prepare professional reports and represent the service in court.

Deliver direct work with children and families while leading on statutory interventions.

Access multi-disciplinary teams and specialist training to further develop your practice.

About you
You will need to:

Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.

Have completed your ASYE and gained at least 3 years post-qualification experience in Childrens Services.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of statutory social care and experience managing complex court proceedings.

Be able to meet the travel requirements of the role and hold the right to work in the UK.

Pass an enhanced DBS check.
