Train Delay Attributor - Swindon Western House

Your decisions make all the difference. As a train delay attributor, you will be passionate about providing great customer service, ensuring that when trains are delayed, passengers and train and freight operating companies are fully informed of the situation in a timely manner. Our attribution team monitors real-time train operations and allocates reasons for any delays.

Your investigative skills matter. You will record, report and support solutions around train delays on your part of the rail network, helping to keep millions moving every day. You will have a keen eye for detail as you work with delay data and develop a good rapport with a wide range of people across your part of the network to find out the root cause of each delay. You will also manage competing deadlines, confirming responsibility for each delay with both accuracy and pace.

When delays happen, you will build an accurate picture of the reasons behind them. Using data and working with our signaller community and other colleagues across the railway, you will get to the heart of each delay. Having recognised the situation, you will create accurate reports and attribute the reasons for the delays. If train reporting procedures fail, you will advise managers and agree on the use of alternate train time information.

• Agility: Experience in managing time with agility and flexibility under competing deadlines.
• IT skills: Confidence in using bespoke IT systems and Windows-based applications.
• Confident decision making: Ability to make accurate and informed decisions.
• Operations knowledge: Understanding of railway and infrastructure operations and local area knowledge.
• Presentation skills: Ability to report clearly, accurately and concisely.
• Shift working: Willingness to work on a shift basis, including days, nights and weekends.

This role is safety critical. Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks, including a hearing and eyesight examination.
