Role Overview
As a Town Planning Technician, you will play a key part in delivering an effective and responsive planning service. You'll support the team with technical expertise, communication, data management, and stakeholder engagement enabling safe, efficient delivery of railway-related projects across Britain. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively, and contributing to positive change across local communities and the rail network as well as starting a Town Planning career.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintain strong relationships with, and be responsive to the needs of, Local Planning Authorities, developers and site promoters and key internal consultees.
- Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders to facilitate delivery of all Town Planning services, through responses to third party planning applications.
- Consult within Network Rail and advise and negotiate with local authorities to deliver the third-party planning service.
- Provide technical support to the team on all Town Planning services as required.
- Develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with internal colleagues to enable efficient and effective service delivery.
- Deliver an efficient and effective third-party planning service on behalf of Network Rail in compliance with external statutory timescales and processes.
- Provide technical support to the team including (but not limited to) preparing and submitting statutory planning and related notifications and applications, submitting appeals, and responding to statutory development plan consultations.
- Responsible for the provision and maintenance of team data recording and input to other Property and Network Rail information and monitoring systems.
- Support changes required in the delivery of the Town Planning services overall strategy.
- Delivery of the third-party planning service to required standards and timescales.
- Maintenance of Town Planning data and records for the team.
- Preparation of supporting information for the range of Town Planning Services.
- Provide support to the team as required.
The role requires attendance of at least 3 days in the office at Puddle Dock, Blackfriars.
