You\’ll help keep our nation moving every single day.
A critical part of the work we do is the daily up keep of the rail network. As a technician you\’ll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

About The Role
Technicians specialise in a range of disciplines and for this role you’ll become a specialist in Signalling & Telecoms.

Responsibilities

  • Work outdoors in all conditions, day or night.
  • Perform manual work and transport kit across terrain.
  • Lead the team when asked, ensuring safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Check team has right competencies to meet strict safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Leadership – able to motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Effective communicator – strong communication skills and deliver clear instructions.
  • Technical skills – knowledge of inspection, faulting, maintenance techniques in signalling.
  • Safety – consistently role model safe behaviours and challenge unsafe situations.
  • Problem solver – develop solutions and keep up to date with standards.
  • Willingness to learn – develop skills and keep up to date.
  • Relevant qualification – NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to discipline or equivalent experience.

Additional Information

  • Shift pattern – days, nights and weekends.
  • Outdoor working – comfortable working in different weather conditions.
  • Safe working – subject to drug and alcohol testing and BPSS checks.
  • Driving – category B licence required.
  • Commute – within 60-minute commute of location.
