The predicted salary is between 45500 - 62000 £ per year.

This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.

SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.

About the role (External)

In this role, you will support the delivery and implementation of new technology as part of Electrical Safety Delivery and National SCADA programmes to meet compliance to the Electricity at Work Regulations (EaWR).

Collaborative working is important as you will work with various teams and stakeholders including the existing project team, key contractors and suppliers, Routes and Regions and other functions within Network Rail, e.g. Technical Authority. The initial focus of this role will be the completion of integration and testing of the Remote Securing Technology into the National SCADA platform, enabling remote secure isolations in accordance with the Electricity at Work Act. Following this, the work will focus on supporting the trial of the Remote Securing Technology on the National Infrastructure.

You will have an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, that may include suppliers, contractors and key internal business representatives and groups. An appreciation and experience of engineering governance and management with knowledge on the relevant Network Rail standards will be required for this role.

In addition, experience with the requirements for Common Safety Method Risk Assessment (CSM-RA), Product Acceptance and Network Rail Panels, e.g. Electrical Systems Review Panel (ESRP) would be required.

The role will require experience in the following areas; SCADA/Control Systems, Server infrastructure, IP Network & Data architecture principles, Electrical Engineering disciplines particularly contact systems technology and Functional Safety specifically to BS EN 61508.

Knowledge of the following aspects would be advantageous, Cyber Security, Operational Technology and software development methods and processes.

  1. Provide expert advice input and support associated with the provision of services for our customers and suppliers.

  2. Support professional leadership for a designated engineering discipline.

  3. Provide expert advice, support and input to technical accident and incident investigations.

  4. Support the setting of policy and standards, operational processes, and systems. Manage the design and delivery of programmes for the development of technical capability required within Network Rail, including the competence framework and effective training materials.

  5. Provide the technical input to the development of the standards, specifications, means of compliance and KPIs for Asset Management, including system risks. Support engineering analysis and risk assessment, including assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliance.

  6. Discharge Network Rail’s CDM related duties as required by company process.

  7. Support the development of strategy, technology, and assets across functions and with industry partners. Liaise with product manufacturers, including external stakeholder e.g. TOC and provide input into the acceptance processes.

  8. Proactively research and respond to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice which impact upon policy and standards.

  9. Identify opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases and Investment Papers where required.

  10. Support Engineering Verification activities.

  11. Act as Delivery Manager for delivery of a specific project or portfolio of projects and deliver projects to time, cost and quality.

  12. Represent Network Rail externally to the industry and input to European issues as required.

  13. · Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience (Level 6)

· Membership of a relevant technical body

· Broad technical engineering experience

· Project or financial planning and management experience

Desirable

· Management or supervisory experience

· Chartered status of a relevant membership body

· Formal Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE2, PMIP, MSP)

· Proven ability in managing commercial, contractual, and financial issues.

· Knowledge of the railway industry and a understanding of railway infrastructure

Hours: up to 35 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required. Flexible working and job shares can be considered.

Salary range: £55,596 – £62,546 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
