Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical monitoring and instrumentation activities, ensuring asset safety and performance.
- Review and specify maintenance and renewal work for geotechnical schemes.
- Analyse trends in asset condition and failures, taking proactive steps to mitigate risks.
- Develop route-specific monitoring plans and prioritised investment strategies.
- Act as the engineering authority for technical approvals and CDM compliance.
- Support investigations into significant failures and implement preventative measures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimise engineering solutions.
- Manage supplier relationships and resolve technical and quality issues.
Qualifications
- Understanding of INSAR/Satellite capabilities for monitoring and experience using GIS software systems.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Strong background in railway civil engineering, with expertise in geotechnical and drainage assets.
- Proven experience in geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, including installation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems, analysis, and interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with total station surveying units and monitoring instruments (e.g., inclinometers, strain gauges, tiltmeters).
- Understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent geotechnical qualification. (Desirable)
