Brief Description
We are looking for a collaborative and people-focused leader to support and develop a team of specialists who create safe, efficient and cost-effective rosters. In this role, you will help managers across the route by providing high-quality administrative and operational support, ensuring our teams have what they need to work safely and effectively. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys improving processes, supporting colleagues and making a real difference to the running of our railway. Experience with MyRoster is highly desirable.
About the role (External)
On a day-to-day basis:
- Lead and manage, providing direction and training to the resourcing team, developing team members through continual monitoring and review to enhance team performance.
- Manage the compilation and co-ordination of safe, efficient and cost-effective rosters.
- Monitor route compliance with collective bargaining procedures, employees Terms & Conditions of Service, National Agreements and Management of Fatigue in respect of rostering activities.
- Liaise with HR Business Partners to develop the routes resource plan to enable efficient and effective recruitment and training.
- Liaise with Management Accountants to provide support to managers in delivering annual budgets.
- Oversee the provision of information to managers to support reporting requirements, including, but not limited to, visualisation, contingency planning, working time exceedances, sickness and other absences, OSB attendance and financial off-costing.
- Oversee accurate payroll input as appropriate.
- Manage support service contracts and conduct system checks to identify potential for cost reduction and adoption of best practice providing an environment for continuous improvement.
- Collate and provide relevant audit documentation as necessary.
- Provide support for local collective bargaining procedures and act as management side secretary of Route/Area Council, monitoring agreed actions to support implementation.
Essential
- Previous successful experience of leading, managing and developing people
- Previous experience of utilising decision making skills and assertiveness
- Previous successful experience of demonstrating organisation and planning skills
- Demonstrable ability to communicate and articulate clearly and concisely
- Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills
- Expert knowledge of NR rostering principles
- Detailed understanding of conditions of service, including pay arrangements, applicable to rostering
- Knowledge of the UK railway industry
- Knowledge of people management policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Lean processes and tools
Desirable
- Experience of working in an administrative environment
- Geographical knowledge of the Route/Area
- Previous rostering experience
