Network Rail is looking for an Operative to support the maintenance of the rail network across Reading Napier Road. You will work outdoors in a small team, ensuring safety and reliability for passengers and freight users.

As an Operative you will work outside in all weather conditions, often under tight time‑constraints. You will transport kit, maintain equipment, and support your team’s safety and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport and set up maintenance kit across challenging terrain.
  • Maintain and inspect overhead line equipment to the company safety and quality standards.
  • Work safely in the vicinity of moving trains, following all rules and local signage.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan daily work, ensuring van and equipment are ready for each shift.
  • Provide lookout and support duties, keeping all personnel safe.

  • Commute – within a 60‑minute travel radius of the location.
