Brief Description

To support and assist the project management team in the everyday management of projects through various stages of the project life cycle for which they are responsible. Aiding in the delivery of the overall project portfolio managed by the team. This will be delivered in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), Railway Group, Network Rail’s company standards and specifications, and all current applicable legislation including CDM Regulations. Working towards our strategic objectives by managing and working collaboratively with our key Framework Contractors.

Please note this is a 12-month secondment opportunity. Interviews for this role are likely to begin the week beginning the 16th of February.

About The Role (External)

Here are some of the duties your role will include:

  • Work as part of a project team for the safe and successful delivery of projects, assisting to deliver projects to time, cost and quality through various phases in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Delivering works safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Monitor and report programme and progress in accordance with project reporting systems and guidelines. Managing database records to hold auditable trails and hand back of projects upon completion to maintenance teams.
  • Develop and integrate effective support systems to enable the Project Manager and Scheme Project Manager to manage and control change. Taking account and initiative having all systems accurately updated with the most up to date data.
  • Monitor contractor performance indicators and provide multiple periodic progress reports with supporting documentation.
  • Support the Project Management team in providing a safe working environment at all times during the execution of those projects under their responsibility.
  • Manage generic and site-specific methods of working and assist with Contractor engagement making sure they supply risk assessments under adequate timescales prior to works commencing.
  • Monitor so that HSQE risk assessments have been carried out by the contractor and monitor compliance. Keeping records updated.
  • Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

What you will bring to the role

  • Some management experience including project management.
  • Educated to HND/HNC or similar standard.
  • HSQE awareness, issues and principles.

It’s desirable if you have it to help give you context to the role

  • Membership (or working towards membership of) the Association for Project Management.
  • A degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, commercial and financial aspects.
  • Understanding of possession planning.
