About the role

As a key leader within our national Occupational Health service, you'll spend your days ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of services across multiple locations. You'll lead and support a team of Medical Coordinators, monitor operational performance, manage scheduling and resources, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve challenges and maintain high standards of service delivery.

Alongside leading people and managing performance, you'll play a vital role in driving continuous improvement. From reviewing customer feedback and implementing service enhancements to overseeing compliance, audits, equipment maintenance and national health surveillance programmes, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and delivering operational excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

You'll be joining a collaborative and experienced national Occupational Health team that is passionate about delivering a high-quality service that makes a real difference to employees across the Network Rail business. Working alongside Medical Coordinators, Occupational Health clinicians, operational colleagues and key stakeholders, you'll be part of a supportive environment where teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

We're looking for a confident and highly organised leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and can bring people together to achieve outstanding results. You'll be an experienced people manager with a proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams, while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

With excellent influencing and negotiation skills, you'll be comfortable challenging constructively, managing expectations, and engaging with colleagues, suppliers and senior leaders to drive positive outcomes and deliver an exceptional service. You'll be a collaborative problem-solver who remains calm under pressure and is able to think quickly when faced with complex operational challenges.

Experienced in managing escalations and handling sensitive conversations, you'll use sound judgement to make decisions that balance customer needs, business priorities and service performance. If you're someone who enjoys working across multiple priorities, can confidently manage competing demands, and has a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications and Experience

• Successful experience and/or professional qualification in an Occupational Health or Operational Management role.
• Excellent customer service and service delivery skills, ideally within an Occupational Health environment.
• Proven experience of successfully managing a team.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the definition, purpose and key functions of an occupational health service.
• Proven ability to influence and negotiate up to a senior level.
• Demonstrable experience of handling sensitive and/or high-stake conversations.
• Demonstrable experience of managing complex diaries using digital scheduling systems.
• Demonstrable experience of applying sound judgment in managing operational service delivery within a healthcare or occupational health setting.
• Proven computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge and understanding of handling special category data under GDPR including confidentiality.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the regional area, as required, to support service delivery.
