About the Role (External)

In this crucial frontline role, you will be responsible for delivering prompt and effective responses to any accidents and incidents on a section of the railway. You may be required to take on the role of Rail Incident Officer, overseeing the establishment of a command structure and leading the coordination of infrastructure and service restoration activities. You will also carry out a broad range of operational support duties – from performance monitoring and weather‑related contingency planning to audit and engineering work, stores ordering and vehicle monitoring.

Essential Criteria

  • Rail Incident Officer and Personal Track Safety training
  • The ability to learn, understand and implement rules and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
  • Strong, logical decision making skills
  • A full driving licence
  • Self‑motivated and assertive
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise duties effectively

This role involves days, nights and weekend working and is safety‑critical, so it is subject to drug and alcohol testing and relevant medical assessment.

Signalling duties may be required as part of the MOM role, which may include a signalling assessment during application. Successful candidates will attend a 7‑week training course as part of the induction.

Salary £55,054
