Location: This role is based in The Quadrant, Milton Keynes. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered. Please note for this role you will need to live within 90 minutes of The Quadrant, Milton Keynes.
Band & Salary: Band.4.B Β£35,582 - Β£43,400 per annum depending on skills and experience.

About The Role Section
- Deliver key Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) strategies, programmes and initiatives that strengthen risk management capability, systems, processes and culture across the business.
- Support the development and implementation of SHE management frameworks, ensuring a consistent and integrated approach that drives continuous improvement.
- Deliver assurance activities and plans that provide confidence in the effective management of Safety, Health and Environment risks and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to improvement programmes that enhance risk management, assurance processes and organisational learning.
- Provide specialist SHE expertise to support investigations, identify root causes and drive continuous improvement.
- Produce and share reports, insights and communications that help leaders and stakeholders make informed decisions about SHE performance and risk.
- Deliver expert SHE advice and support to Route Services teams, ensuring risks are effectively managed and controls remain robust and effective.
- Support the development of a positive safety culture, helping teams embed effective risk management practices and drive behavioural change.
- Provide guidance on regulatory, industry and company requirements, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and supporting engagement with regulatory bodies.
- Work collaboratively with Safety, Health & Environment Managers to promote best practice and support the successful delivery of the SHE strategy.
- Regular travel throughout the UK, primarily by rail, with occasional overnight stays will be required.
Your experience and skills
- Must be a member of the Institute of Occupational Health and safety (IOSH) at Technical (TechIOSH) level or above
- Knowledge and experience of working with appropriate ISO management system standards in a complex business, e.g. ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
- Demonstrable experience of internal auditing of SHE activities in a high-risk industry
- Relevant experience in SHE and/or Q Governance, Risk, Assurance and Improvement in highly complex or high hazard organisations
- Experience in preparing and reviewing SHE insights and communications
- Strong influencing and communication skills
- Good understanding of the UK and European legislative framework and requirements

Desirable Criteria
- Educated to degree level
- Internal or Lead audit trained
- NEBOSH H&S Certificate or equivalent
- Experience of Health and Safety, Quality and/or Environmental management
- Experience of risk management in High Hazard industries
- Experience of Supply Chain Management and Assurance
- Experience of Network Rail procurement processes and technical tender evaluation
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence and knowledge of Sentinel requirements
- Experience of working within an operational railway environment
- Experience of working with the Procurement & Commercial team on tenders
