Brief Description

What does a Human Resources Business Partner in East Coast Route do?

Well, no two days are ever the same, there are approx. 2500 colleagues employed in East Coast Route, geographically located along the East Coast mainline from Kings Cross up to Berwick. As HRBP, you’ll report to a Senior HRBP, and you’ll work alongside a dedicated client area of approx. 450 colleagues.

This will involve coaching, advising and challenging business leaders on short and medium-term HR issues such as organisation change and employee relations case management.

We’re looking for someone to join our team who is flexible, collaborative and able to challenge us, so we continue to improve on our journey of modernisation. Our HRBPs sit alongside their client areas and therefore are expected to travel to depots / operational centres and be co-located for the majority of their time.

  • Discount and savings from top retailers
  • 75% season ticket
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 35-hour week
  • This role can be based in Newcastle or Darlington

  • Working in partnership and building strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders from senior leaders, HR centre of expertise colleagues, trade union colleagues as well as the team members in your client area.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing best practice HR solutions to drive a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to balance many competing priorities including day to day operational HR activities alongside delivering the HR strategic plan.
  • Excellent generalist HR Knowledge – CIPD qualified or relevant experience.
  • Resilience is key and a proven track record of operating in a complex and unionised environment would be beneficial
