About The Role
Join Network Rail Training's Performance Analysis Team and help transform complex training, commercial and operational data into insight that drives business decisions and improves railway performance.
Our team provides analytical expertise that enables Network Rail Training to understand demand, delivery, utilisation, cost recovery, supplier performance and the value generated through investment in training. We combine performance, financial and operational data to identify trends, assess business impact and support strategic and operational decision-making across the organisation.
As a Business Performance Analyst, you will partner with colleagues across Training, Finance, Planning and operational teams to solve business challenges through analysis and evidence-based insight. You will be responsible for translating complex business questions into analytical approaches, identifying trends and opportunities, forecasting future requirements, evaluating performance and delivering actionable recommendations that support decision‑making.
Working with large and varied datasets, you will develop analytical products and insight that help stakeholders understand performance, inform investment decisions and improve business outcomes. You will contribute to the development of performance measures, analytical frameworks and data‑driven solutions that increase understanding of training demand, resource utilisation, commercial performance and workforce capability.
This role requires a proactive analyst who can quickly build credibility with stakeholders, understand business priorities and apply strong analytical thinking to deliver meaningful outcomes. Success comes from combining technical capability with commercial awareness, curiosity and the confidence to challenge assumptions through evidence and insight.
The Roles
- Contract type: We are recruiting for two positions: 1 x Permanent Full-Time position and 1 x Full-Time 12-Month fixed term contract position, with the potential to become permanent.
- Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week
- Band & Salary: Band 4.B - £35,582 - £43,400 per annum depending on skills and experience
- Location: The Quadrant, Milton Keynes or Bristol Temple Point (regular travel to Milton Keynes will be required) (please note for this role you need to live within 90 minutes of locations)
- Working pattern: Hybrid working: this role permits hybrid working, employees are expected to work from a Network Rail location for minimum of 60% of their weekly hours, typically 3 days for full‑time roles.

Your Experience And Skills
What are we looking for?
- Level 4 of equivalent qualification in Analysis (inc. Advanced Power BI)
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Research and analysis skills
What could set you apart when applying?
- Experience in business planning within Network Rail
- Experience of managing a budget
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Knowledge of Network Rail Training systems and data sources, including Cygnum, Sentinel and Oracle.
- Experience of supporting business planning, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Experience of translating complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric and AI-enabled analytics.
