Duration: Apprentice for up to 3 years as a fixed‑term contract. Full Time (35 hours per week) with a blend of work and study. University/dedicated study time is expected to be 1 day a week. Location (Office): The Quadrant: MK, 2/3 days in the office a week.

Brief Description: Are you keen to learn more about how the railway copes during disruptive events and find out about all of the planning activities that go on in the background to make us resilient?
About The Role: You will be an integral part of the National Business Continuity Team within Network Rail, working closely with resilience professionals from across the company and wider railway. The team continuously pushes boundaries and looks for ways to improve how we prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptive events that impact our railway and passengers. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside a high‑performing team, within a complex and diverse organisation. As part of this role, you’ll be supported to complete the Resilience and Emergencies Professional Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6), delivered by Coventry University. This 3.5‑year programme blends academic study with practical experience, enabling you to earn a BSc (Hons) while developing real‑world skills in incident management, resilience planning, and emergency response. With a mix of online learning, on‑campus training, and workplace application, Network Rail will work closely with the university to support your development and ensure you make a meaningful impact from day one.
Key Tasks:
- Provide support in managing and developing the organisation’s business continuity platform, tailoring this for the business.
- Supporting the development and production of continuity plans, site‑specific arrangements for our critical sites.
- Supporting the team in delivering a tailored awareness campaign across the devolved businesses and the national support functions.
- Working alongside resilience leads throughout the business to develop and deliver continuity exercises.
- Supporting the review and regular maintenance of the Business Continuity Management Toolkit, making sure this is aligned to industry best practice and tailored to the needs of a multifaceted business.
- Supporting the roll out of specific resilience‑related projects, including enhancements to the Business continuity platform.
- Working alongside the team to develop and mature resilience arrangements across the business, supporting the community of leads in growing their own resilience programmes.
