The Traffic Management Co-Ordinator will support the delivery of Traffic Management activities across the United Utilities contract, acting as a key link between United Utilities, Network Plus operational teams, depots and subcontractors. Based at Lingley Mere, the role will coordinate day-to-day Traffic Management requirements, ensuring works are effectively planned, resourced and delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for Traffic Management across the United Utilities contract.
  • Coordinate Traffic Management requirements across planned and reactive works.
  • Undertake site and desktop surveys and support the preparation and verification of Traffic Management plans.
  • Monitor programmes and identify upcoming resource, access or Traffic Management requirements.
  • Liaise with United Utilities, Network Plus teams, Highway Authorities and subcontractors to resolve site queries and operational issues.
  • Oversee Traffic Management delivery, including site audits, documentation, PPE, vehicle and general compliance checks.
  • Coordinate subcontractor resources and support the monitoring of subcontractor performance.
  • Attend operational and programme meetings, providing updates and escalating potential risks or issues.
  • Support day/night handovers and participate in the agreed out-of-hours escalation rota.
  • Review Traffic Management incidents and recurring issues, helping identify root causes and improvement actions.
  • Maintain accurate operational and compliance records.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Previous experience within Traffic Management, highways, utilities or a similar operational environment.
  • Good understanding of Traffic Management operations, compliance and safe working practices.
  • Strong planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident working with clients, operational teams and subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve operational issues effectively.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant operational systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous water/utilities or United Utilities framework experience would be advantageous.
  • Relevant Traffic Management or Streetworks qualifications would be desirable.
