As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for local operational teams who deliver the day to day aspects of a Developer Services Contract including mains and service laying. You will provide project management – ensuring that the work is delivered safely on time, within budget and to our Client’s and Customers expectations. You will ensure that work is carried out in a manner which builds the confidence of developers, builders and homeowners and adopts a ‘right first time’ approach. Recognising developers have paid for mains laying and new supplies to their site/property, you will work proactively with inhouse scheduling teams and the client to build a baseline plan and overcome obstacles so that the dates given to developers are adhered to. Satisfaction of developers is measured through a regulatory measure called D-MeX which is aligned to KPI’s & SLA’s which is how we will measure contract and individual performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead operational teams on a Developer Services contract with Thames Water.
  • Ensure any CDM regulations (principal contractor & designer responsibilities) are being adhered to across all works.
  • You will project manage developer services work by local teams, ensuring it is carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare and environmental regulations.
  • You will proactively manage projects to influence improved D-MeX ratings from developers/customers, working with local teams to address any low performance ratings.
  • You will be required to carry out site visits and regular audits at the Developers’ site to understand performance standards, monitor adherence with technical standards and resolve complaints and issues in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure compliance with Thames Water technical standards and specifications as well as the Network Plus standards of service and quality systems.
  • You will ensure that the health and safety competence of any sub-contractors deployed on your projects are assessed prior to commencing work.
  • You will assess operational risks and ensure that the correct site-specific method statements and risk assessments are completed.
  • You will ensure all materials and plant use are accurately recorded.
  • You will lead team briefings with all teams on a monthly basis and ensure two-way feedback.
  • You must have a can-do attitude and have the ability to problem solve ensuring work is completed as planned.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Health & Safety qualification an advantage.
  • Relevant qualifications and authorisations.
  • Experience of working in Utilities.
  • Supervisor Street works qualification.
  • Main laying and New Supplies knowledge and experience.
  • Deep Excavation knowledge and experience.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good management skills.
  • Financial and commercial awareness.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
