As Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ), you will have a sense for the importance of leading change and enabling continuous improvement across the organisation. This role will require you to lead a team of HSEQ SMEs delivering technical policy and standards, driving carbon reduction and innovative safety and health management across the organisation. Your primary objective will be to ensure that HSEQ risks are adequately profiled, with the overarching Management Systems maintained across the Network Plus Group. You will ensure the systems enable growing a culture associating strong HSEQ standards with continual improvement requirements, supporting the Network Plus leadership team.
Your responsibilities will include the active monitoring of HSEQ related performance across the Business, engaging with stakeholders to drive performance ensuring the effective application of HSEQ Management Standards. Working alongside the wider HSEQ team, you will support growing the cross functional culture. You will have a passion for ensuring exceptional levels of health, safety, environmental and quality standards are delivered; putting in place the processes and reports to continually assure compliance.
Key responsibilities- Implement a robust governance framework, monitor and provide regular management reports with supporting MI.
- Develop, monitor and lead departmental strategic plans to deliver robust HSEQ systems to effectively manage associated risk.
- Ensure HSEQ risks are adequately profiled, horizon scan highlighting potential changes and identify necessary action to control and mitigate risks.
- Ensure Network Plus systems achieve legal compliance and industry requirements, updates are anticipated and implemented effectively.
- Ensure HSEQ policy and standards are consistently monitored, updated and embedded across sector contracts to ensure compliance against legal and management standards.
- Proactively identify opportunities through robust performance management, MI trending and analysis to drive continuous improvement to influence strategic direction.
- Develop organisational improvement plans to develop HSEQ culture.
- Leading our commitment to sustainability and actively contributing to achieving Net Carbon Zero.
- Collaborate with clients and industry partners to identify best practice and future initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with the client and external organisations where required.
- Drive the correct and safe behaviours out on site and within the office, leading on the active management of the Competence Assessment process.
- Liaise as necessary with other organisations, clients and enforcing authorities, aiding and cooperating with audits and remedial actions.
Essential
- Experienced senior manager leading and developing large teams.
- Exceptional project management capabilities.
- Hold relevant HSEQ qualification, e.g., NVQ 4, NEBOSH Diploma, Health, Safety, Environment or Quality Management degree.
- Strategic thinker and problem solver with experience of developing and delivering HSEQ strategies.
- Experience in a similar role within a High-Risk environment at an appropriate senior managerial level.
- Extensive root cause analysis experience with suitable qualification.
- High level of communication and negotiation skills with the ability to motivate and influence others.
- Have excellent time management, organisational and decision-making skills.
Desirable
- Experience of working within the Utility Sector is highly desirable.
- Chartered Membership of IOSH and IEMA.
