About PCGamesN

Part of Network N Media, PCGamesN has been a leading voice in PC gaming and hardware since its launch in 2012. Our best-in-class news, guides, and hardware coverage delves deep into PC gaming’s past, present, and future, with a focus on the topics and genres that players care about most. If you can write flawlessly and love seeking out original stories, you could be our next Deputy News Editor.

We’re a fun and friendly company based in Bath but are open to taking on remote employees within the UK, too. We are always growing, work fast but accurately, have an international reach, and are nerdy as hell! We are committed to being an inclusive workplace and have various groups and events to hear underrepresented voices.

The role

You\’ll be embedded in the PC gaming news landscape and have experience in seeking out original content and pursuing new, innovative beats. Finally, you\’ll have previous people management experience and strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to adapt on the fly to the ever-changing landscape that is the PCGamesN news desk – who knows when the Starfield 2 announcement will drop? Probably when you least expect it.

  • Support the team by ideating strong, original angles and headlines while actively pursuing avenues for unique content (interviews, community stories, and so on).
  • Write around three PC gaming news stories per day while managing other responsibilities, such as ensuring news documentation is updated, providing detailed feedback, and developing external relationships. This number can decrease depending on your other responsibilities and the required time investment for each post. It can also increase around major events like Gamescom or Summer Game Fest.
  • You’ll be able to adapt to the shifting environment of a news desk, jumping on breaking stories when required, or other requests from the News Editor or Editor.
  • Keeping our news assets up to date, including our key games tracker, flawless tracker, and freelance documentation.
  • You will proactively seek and pitch original news opportunities, and conduct interviews and transcription to support this.
  • You’ll ensure key games are covered regularly and pursue new coverage beats.
  • Ensure that content is optimised for audience growth and discovery while adhering to Network N Media processes and SEO best practices.
  • Develop relationships with sources within key PC gaming communities, as well as nurturing PR, developer, and publisher relationships, in order to generate new leads and opportunities.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members, taking into account learning styles, to maintain consistently high-quality news output.
  • You’ll oversee the news team and news freelance output when the News Editor is absent.
  • You’ll plan ahead to ensure the cell hits upcoming embargoes and remains well-organized through the use of Slack, Gmail, and Asana.
  • You’ll occasionally attend and report from industry events, such as Summer Game Fest and Gamescom.
  • You’ll occasionally contribute to our preview and review output.
  • Other as requested by the News Editor, Editor, or senior management team.
