An fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategically minded Head of IT and Digital, to lead an IT Team in what will be a multi-year transformation programme within a large, complex organisation. This will be an interim role, expected to be initially contracted for 9 to 12 months, with a range of challenges, but boiling down to supporting an organisation to work their way through an enterprise-wide transformation programme. The work will affect the organisational structure, ways of working and IT estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for IT, digital and data services
  • Lead the development and execution of a defined transformation programme, delivering against agreed outcomes, timelines and benefits
  • Orchestrate complex organisational change, aligning technology, people, processes and governance
  • Ensure cyber resilience, robust data governance and secure service delivery
  • Oversee teams responsible for IT operations, architecture, applications, infrastructure and service delivery
  • Manage significant revenue budgets and capital investment aligned to transformation objectives
  • Build effective relationships across senior leadership, partners and delivery stakeholders

Essential Criteria - Candidate Profile:

  • Proven history in Head of IT / Data or IT Director level roles (not Programme Management as a Programme Manager will be appointed separately)
  • Demonstrable experience across both public and private sector environments
  • Proven track record of leading and directing major organisational transformation programmes, such as M&A activity, Multi-site / multi-organisation outsourcing or insourcing
  • Proven capability in orchestrating complex, enterprise-wide change programmes
  • Strong commercial, financial and strategic capability (Budget management of around £20-30 million)
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with credibility at executive and board level
  • Able to communicate the technical challenges in IT, to non-technical stakeholders
