Network IT is recruiting for a mid-level SAP Basis / HANA Administrator to join our clients Enterprise Systems team. This role is well suited to someone looking to build depth in SAP Basis and HANA administration, supporting day-to-day operations while gaining exposure to upgrades, security, performance optimisation, and future SAP transformations. You will provide hands-on support across SAP Basis and SAP HANA environments, working closely with senior SAP team members and wider IT stakeholders. The role has a strong operational focus, including patching, monitoring, security administration, and performance support, with opportunities to contribute to improvement initiatives and strategic projects over time.
Due to the nature of work you would be involved in, the successful candidate will need to be eligible for Security Clearance (SC).
Key Responsibilities:- Support the stability, security, and performance of our clients SAP landscape, ensuring reliable day-to-day operations while developing your technical expertise across SAP Basis and HANA.
- Provide day-to-day SAP Basis and SAP HANA administration support.
- Support SAP HANA database operations, including monitoring, basic tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with system patching, updates, and transport management across SAP environments.
- Support system security, including user administration, roles/authorisations (with guidance), and compliance requirements.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Support backup, recovery, and replication processes.
- Work closely with senior SAP specialists, infrastructure teams, and service management functions.
- Assist with audits, documentation, and adherence to ITIL processes and security standards.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Around 2-4 years experience in a SAP Basis and/or SAP HANA administration role.
- Working knowledge of SAP Basis administration concepts.
- Experience supporting SAP HANA databases in an operational environment.
- Exposure to patching, upgrades, monitoring, and performance support.
- Basic scripting or automation experience (or willingness to develop these skills).
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service delivery and change management.
- Experience supporting or contributing to SAP ECC 6 to SAP S/4HANA migrations (highly desirable, but not required).
- Exposure to SAP upgrades or platform modernisation initiatives.
- Experience with Linux-based SAP systems.
- Exposure to virtualised or cloud-hosted SAP environments.
- Relevant SAP or infrastructure certifications.
