We’re looking for a Digital Infrastructure Operations Manager to lead the coordination, planning and performance of a major digital and research infrastructure portfolio supporting thousands of users and significant investment.

Are you an experienced programme, operations or senior IT leader who thrives in complex, large‑scale environments? You do NOT need supercomputing or HPC experience. You DO need experience managing services or programmes of similar scale, complexity and criticality.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Own and maintain an end‑to‑end service and delivery plan across multiple teams.
  • Provide programme‑level oversight of major digital and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Track risks, dependencies, milestones and resources, resolving issues early.
  • Align team priorities and workloads across technical and operational teams.
  • Line‑manage an operations/resource management role.
  • Manage complex, multi‑year budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Support business cases, investment proposals and funding bids.
  • Produce clear performance and operational reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Deputise for the Head of Service when required.

Senior experience in programme management, operations leadership or IT services. Proven delivery in large, complex, mission‑critical environments. Strong financial management and forecasting skills. Comfortable working with senior leaders, committees and multiple stakeholders. Excellent organisation, judgement and communication skills. Able to quickly understand technical services without being a technical specialist. Experience in enterprise IT, cloud, data platforms, shared services or public‑sector environments is highly relevant.

Senior, visible role with real impact. Work with expert technical teams while focusing on leadership and delivery. Hybrid working and strong development support. Generous annual leave.

If you’re ready to apply your programme and operations expertise at scale — apply now.
