We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 HIAB Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods using a flatbed lorry equipped with a HIAB crane. This role involves operating commercial vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. Candidates must hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence and have experience with flatbed and delivery driving. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers looking to utilise their skills in a dynamic environment. We operate throughout the UK including central London. All candidates must be flexible throughout the week. Being away from Sunday to Friday is a possibility in this role. The job involves weekend work, which can range from 2hrs work to a full day, of which candidates will be expected to do their fair share on a rota basis. Weekend work is paid at an increased rate of pay. The vehicle you will be driving will be a DAF XF with manual gearbox and PM65 crane. Experience with both a manual gearbox and crane is essential. Any applicant without the relevant experience will not be considered. Early starts and late finishes are an essential part of the job.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a HGV Class 1 lorry with a HIAB crane for delivery and collection purposes
- Load and unload goods using the HIAB crane, ensuring secure handling of items on a flatbed vehicle
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules whilst adhering to legal driving hours and safety regulations
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle inspections and report any defects or issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle logs in compliance with company policies
- Ensure all deliveries are completed in a timely manner whilst maintaining high standards of customer service
- Follow all health and safety procedures during loading, unloading, and driving operations
- Assist with general vehicle maintenance and cleanliness as required
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial delivery driver, ideally with flatbed vehicles and HIAB cranes
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with recent driving experience in similar roles
- Experience operating flatbed lorries equipped with HIAB cranes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of current driving regulations, tachograph rules, and health & safety standards in transportation
- Delivery driver experience demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
