As a Chartered Electrical Building Services Engineer, you will take ownership of the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services solutions across commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments. You will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements, client expectations, and industry best practices. Working closely with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers within the team.
Education:
- BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through the IET or equivalent professional body
- Master's degree advantageous
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Proven experience within a UK building services consulting environment
- Strong electrical building services design experience
- Power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, and small power systems design
- Electrical load calculations and feasibility studies
- Thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations and British Standards
- Experience preparing technical specifications, reports, and tender documentation
- AutoCAD and Revit proficiency
- Multidisciplinary project coordination experience
- Installation, testing, commissioning, and site inspection exposure
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver against strict deadlines
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services systems
- Develop technical designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, standards, and client requirements
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and project teams
- Conduct feasibility assessments and technical reviews
- Support project delivery through installation, testing, and commissioning phases
- Review contractor submissions and technical documentation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- Drive energy-efficient and sustainable engineering design solutions
- Maintain project quality, programme, and technical standards
