LRQA are recruiting for MSC Fisheries Assessors. You will need to be competent at auditing in this role with the following details specific about this position:

  • General Qualifications - Pre-requisite
  • University degree in fisheries, marine conservation biology, natural resources environmental management or relevant field (e.g. economics, mathematics, statistics) OR 3 years’ management or research experience in a marine conservation biology, fisheries, natural resources or environmental management position.
  • Understanding of MSC Fisheries Standard and relevant MSC Certification Process requirements
    • Review any updates to the MSC Fisheries Program Documents at least annually.
    • Pass the MSC’s fishery team member training course at least every 5 years.
    • Pass new versions of the compulsory online training modules when new versions of the MSC Fisheries Standard are published prior to undertaking assessments against the new MSC Fisheries Standard.
    • Pass new online training modules on modifications to the MSC Fisheries Standard before undertaking assessments using these modifications such as enhanced bivalves, salmon and other modifications that may be developed in the future.
  • Competencies - Ability to:
    • Describe the intent and requirements of the MSC Fisheries Standard.
    • Score a fishery using the default assessment tree.
    • Describe how conditions are set and monitored.

    This is a specific role to build the team further globally for the expansion of the operation managed through Edinburgh.
