The BI Developer position is an integral part of the Analytics & Insight team within the Digital and Information function.

The developer is responsible for designing and implementing business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, as well as providing ongoing support and iterative development for those solutions.

This role involves leveraging Microsoft Azure, using best practices and appropriate methodologies, to enhance data-driven decision-making processes and deliver analytics that drive business success.

The developer will collaborate with team members and work with stakeholders to ensure BI initiatives align with organisational goal

Key Responsibilities

  • BI Development: Develop dashboards and reports in Power BI, focusing on data visualizations and analytics tailored to meet business needs.

Ensure data integrity to provide meaningful and accurate information that supports business reporting requirements.

Design: work with Data Engineering and Analytics lead to design robust data models and database strategies utilising Microsoft Azure to enhance data integration and facilitate comprehensive BI environments that support business decisions.

Support: Collaborate with business stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure BI initiatives align with key business strategies.

Regularly engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and refine BI tools to better support their decision-making needs.

Implementation: Use analytics to extract strategic insights that influence business outcomes.

Support efforts in predictive and prescriptive analytics within Power BI to forecast trends and model business scenarios.

  • Collaboration & Development: Work with other developers and data engineers to promote continuous learning and improvement across the BI team and the wider business.

Contribute to BI initiatives, ensuring they deliver valuable insights, and are adopted by business end-users

  • Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in BI development, with a focus on Microsoft Power BI.

Strong ability to analyse data and implement BI solutions that directly impact business strategies and outcomes.

  • Communication: Possess good communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and provide critical insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively with development teams, Dev Ops engineers, and other stakeholders to streamline Power BI development processes using Azure Dev Ops.
  • Expertise in Power BI: Proficiency in creating complex Power BI reports, dashboards, power query, DAX, data models, data integration from various data sources.
  • Data Modelling: good understanding of data modelling concepts including relationships, DAX calculations, and optimisation techniques.
  • Power BI Dataflows: experience in creating and managing Power BI Dataflows to ingest, transform, and prepare data for analysis and reporting.
  • Data Visualisation: Ability to design visually appealing reports and dashboards, using initiative to design effective data visualisations to convey insights to stakeholders.
  • SQL Proficiency: good understanding of SQL for data manipulation and querying.

Ops: Knowledge of using Azure Dev Ops Boards to manage workload.
