The role of NOC and Cloud Manager encompasses the responsibilities of overseeing both traditional on-premises network operations and cloud-based networking systems. Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and lead NOC and cloud teams to ensure high-quality support.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and expectations for team members.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and professional development programs.
- Manage team schedules to ensure 24/7/365 coverage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development and IT/NOC.
- Lead the transformation from legacy infrastructure practices to a modern IaaS and PaaS platform.
- Infrastructure Design and Implementation
- Design and deploy scalable and secure infrastructure solutions (e.g., VPCs, subnets, gateways) for both cloud and on-premises systems.
- Ensure seamless integration of cloud and on-premises networks (hybrid setups).
- Operations, Monitoring, and Incident Management
- Monitor the performance of both on-premises and cloud-based systems.
- Ensure timely detection, escalation, and resolution of incidents and outages.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTTD and MTTR.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripts and cloud-native tools.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and manage infrastructure security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Perform regular audits and address vulnerabilities in both cloud and traditional systems.
- Strategic Planning and Optimization
- Collaborate with cloud architects and IT leaders to align network configurations with business goals.
- Develop strategies to improve NOC processes, efficiency, and hybrid network performance.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies in both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Optimize costs related to network resources and services.
- Create and maintain disaster recovery and high availability plans.
- Develop & Employ ITSM standards and best practices for the operations organization.
- Lead the team to design, develop, and deploy an automation framework supporting AI-Ops.
- Establish FinOps within the operations organization.
- Communication and Reporting
- Serve as the escalation point for critical incidents.
- Provide regular updates and reports on infrastructure performance and incident resolution to stakeholders.
- Develop and provide a cadence for monthly reporting on KPIs such as uptime, availability, ITSM metrics, projects and project status.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience
- 5+ years of experience in network operations, with at least 2 years in cloud environments.
- Proven experience in monitoring tools, ITSM platforms, and hybrid or multi-cloud setups.
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and VPS (Private and Self Hosted Clouds).
- Familiarity with automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Computing architecture and deployment of VMWare technologies including ESXi, VSphere and VMotion.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
- Certifications
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking or Microsoft Certified Azure Network Engineer.
- Soft Skills
