Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working exclusively to recruit an experienced Accounts Supervisor (Ledger Supervisor) for a fast paced, growth client based in Wakefield. Reporting to the Finance Manager, as Accounts Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department, overseeing a team of three transactional finance staff, providing leadership, guidance, and hands-on support as needed. You will be responsible for the overall integrity and accuracy of the company's financial ledgers and the governance and supervision of the transactional finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing a small team.
- Overseeing daily transactional finance activities including purchase ledger, sales ledger, VAT and bank reconciliations.
- Ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Reviewing and approving reconciliations, journals, and month-end tasks.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices.
- Providing training, support, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and company financial procedures.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff within a finance environment is essential.
- A strong understanding of transactional accounting processes is required, particularly accounts payable and receivable.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- An ability to dig amongst the weeds to identify and improve processes and rectify issues.
- You will be confident using accounting software and Excel.
Salary up to £35k plus benefits (depending on skills and experience).
