About the Role
The Sales Engineer (SE) will provide pre-sales engineering support across the UK Enterprise market. Working alongside an assigned account manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for specific sales revenue goals and business objectives aligned with company-wide strategies. The role involves working from a home office with 40-50% travel, reporting to the Manager, Sales Engineering. Significant customer interaction and a solid understanding of the sales cycle are essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Account Managers and Regional Directors to develop business and technical strategies.
- Investigate prospect needs and develop strategies to win business.
- Assist sales teams in tactical decision-making.
- Identify business problems and offer solutions.
- Provide technical support using NETSCOUT\’s best practices.
- Manage all lead technical activities and build relationships within customer IT infrastructure.
- Support sales in achieving targets and accurately forecasting opportunities.
- Create and deliver PoCs, manage bakeoffs, and conduct presentations and demonstrations.
- Explore user scenarios to identify upsell opportunities.
- Adapt to new situations, including working with multiple integrators.
- Travel within the territory as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years in IT or 7 years in a pre-sales or related technical support role.
- Experience with customer engagement to understand challenges and propose solutions.
- Proven success in pre-sales roles.
- Strong networking and application background; Linux/Windows knowledge.
- Regional business experience is critical.
- Technical skills in Cisco routing, switching, TCP/IP, SNMP, VoIP, LAN/WAN topologies, security, and network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of network performance management and tools like HP/OV, IBM Tivoli, EMC SMARTS, ArcSight.
- Experience with operating systems, certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), SDN/NFV, virtualization, and cloud environments.
Additional experience with RFI/RFP responses and security audits is a plus. Formal sales training (e.g., Sandler, Siebel) and excellent communication, organization, and self-motivation skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Implementation or professional service experience.
- Networking & security qualifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP-SP).
- Bachelor\’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
