About The Role
Following continued growth and strategic investment, Owen Daniels is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Quality Engineer to join their Quality Operations team based in Minworth. This is a permanent position designed for a dedicated professional with a strong background in automotive manufacturing and plastics injection moulding. As a key member of the quality function, you will serve as the Voice of the Customer, leading initiatives to improve product quality, support customer escalations, and implement effective corrective actions. Your role will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of quality performance across the organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in quality management within a manufacturing environment, particularly in automotive or plastics injection moulding sectors. Relevant qualifications include an apprenticeship, ONC, HNC, or equivalent technical training. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, as well as additional certifications such as a Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma, and IATF 16949 Audit Training, are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in metrology and measurement equipment, with a good understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to manufacturing settings. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and quality tools is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for customer communications, representing the Voice of the Customer to the organization.
- Lead and support customer escalation activities, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Coordinate and evaluate 8D and CCAR activities, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Generate weekly and monthly KPI reports, including metrics such as PPM, incident rates, 8D status, and customer scorecards.
- Drive the closure of corrective actions, ensuring sustainability and effectiveness of solutions implemented.
- Provide guidance and support to Quality Technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support containment management activities and align them with broader business objectives.
- Identify training needs within the quality team and facilitate relevant development programs.
- Manage Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Promote best practices in quality management across all departments and share successful strategies.
- Act as a deputy for the Senior Quality Engineer when required, ensuring seamless operations.
- Maintain robust quality systems and processes focused on defect prevention and process control.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
