The consultancy is delivering a large-scale application refactoring and cloud migration programme, helping modernize critical business applications and transition them to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The successful candidate will join a multi-team delivery environment and contribute to technology transformation work with significant scale and complexity. About The Role
As a Java AWS Application Developer, you will develop, refactor, and migrate Java applications as part of a structured cloud transformation programme. You will work with colleagues to assess application components, contribute to suitable design and development approaches, and deliver enhancements that support the move to AWS. Your work will help ensure that applications are prepared for migration and that agreed development activities are completed effectively.
The role involves close collaboration across technical teams and the wider programme. You will contribute to application design discussions, resolve development challenges, and support delivery activities in line with programme requirements. This position is suited to a developer who can work confidently in a large-scale environment, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and adapt their approach as project priorities evolve.
Qualifications
- Strong commercial experience developing applications with Java.
- Demonstrable experience developing Java applications for migration to AWS.
- Practical experience with application refactoring and migration projects.
- Strong application design and development skills, with the ability to contribute to robust, maintainable solutions.
- Experience working within large-scale technology programmes or complex delivery environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, programme colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Must be based in the UK and have a minimum of five years’ UK residency.
- Willingness and ability to complete the background and client clearance checks required for the programme.
Applicants should be able to explain their relevant experience and describe how they have contributed to Java development, application modernization, or cloud migration work. Experience working across teams and managing priorities within a programme setting will be valuable.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance Java application components in support of the AWS migration programme.
- Refactor existing applications to support modernization and migration objectives.
- Contribute to application design decisions and translate technical requirements into development work.
- Support the assessment, preparation, and migration of business applications to AWS.
- Work with programme and technical teams to coordinate development activities and address delivery issues.
- Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, or technical challenges that may affect migration progress.
- Produce clear, maintainable application changes that meet agreed requirements and quality expectations.
- Contribute to a collaborative delivery environment and share relevant technical information with colleagues.
