About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Software Engineer to join our client’s innovative team based in Cambridge (CB25). This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of software systems within a high‑tech manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting production test automation, new product introduction (NPI), and the continuous improvement of engineering processes. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the Software Engineer will help streamline manufacturing operations, enhance product quality, and drive automation initiatives that increase efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in developing software for test automation or manufacturing environments is essential.
- Familiarity with configuration control and software release processes is required to ensure smooth deployment and updates.
- Experience with tools such as LabVIEW (preferred), along with programming languages like Python or C/C++.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for software and embedded systems within hardware‑integrated environments are critical.
- Attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams are also key qualifications.
- Desirable attributes include experience supporting NPI through to production, knowledge of embedded systems, manufacturing test equipment, and an understanding of quality standards in controlled engineering environments.
Responsibilities
- Support the transfer of new products from development into manufacturing, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption.
- Develop, implement, and maintain automated test solutions for production, including verification and calibration processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance product testability and manufacturing efficiency, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Implement and manage processes for software deployment, firmware programming, and configuration control to maintain system integrity.
- Drive automation initiatives and process improvements aimed at increasing throughput and reducing manual intervention.
- Provide technical support during production, including fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and support change control processes to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams to deliver reliable and efficient manufacturing solutions.
