Hays Technology is recruiting for a contract assignment supporting IBM's Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations environment. The opportunity sits within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) space and offers the chance to contribute to business-critical systems and services. The successful contractor will work remotely while supporting technical development and operational needs across D365 F&O, including integrations and retail processes.
About The Role
As an Application Developer, you will deliver hands‑on technical development and support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. You will use X++ to build and maintain solutions, support complex integrations, and help ensure that application environments are reliable, scalable and performant. The role involves working across technical delivery and troubleshooting, with a particular focus on third‑party payment connectors, sales order integrations, batch processing and retail operations.
You will collaborate with relevant technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve issues and deliver maintainable solutions. You will also support environment management, deployment activities and pipelines, helping changes move through the appropriate stages in a controlled manner. This is a remote contract opportunity with a rate of £400 per day and a BPSS clearance requirement.
Qualifications
Candidates should bring strong, practical experience developing and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations applications. Advanced X++ development capability and a track record of delivering complex D365 integrations are essential. You should also have experience working with third‑party payment connectors and sales order integrations, as well as configuring, monitoring and optimising batch jobs.
Experience managing D365 environments through Lifecycle Services (LCS), deployments and pipelines is required. You will need to demonstrate strong technical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and recommend durable fixes. The role also calls for sound solution design capability, knowledge of retail processes such as POS, payments, inventory and the order lifecycle, and a consistent focus on code quality and application performance. Candidates must be able to meet the BPSS clearance requirement.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain technical solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, applying advanced X++ skills to meet functional and technical requirements. Build, support and troubleshoot complex integrations, including connections with third‑party payment providers and sales order systems.
- Configure and monitor batch jobs, investigate failures and optimise processing to support dependable operations. Manage application environments using LCS and contribute to deployments and delivery pipelines. Diagnose technical issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions. Design scalable, maintainable solutions that align with platform requirements and support ongoing business needs. Work with retail‑related processes across POS, order fulfilment, payments and inventory, while protecting code quality, system stability and application performance.
