Base Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 DOE

Substantial Group (SG) is a rapidly scaling telecommunications company committed to transforming the full-fibre broadband industry.

Specialising in Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) solutions, SG is focused on delivering a genuinely transparent customer experience that sets us apart in the market. With significant funding and a highly skilled, compact team, we are entering a period of growth and expansion, looking for passionate, innovative, ready-to-hustle individuals to join us in building the future of telecom.

At SG, we are not just building products – we are building a SaaS platform that supports both customer-facing and internal tools and apps. Our platforms need to handle a core functionality layer with customisation options for different client needs, making our product roadmap both exciting and complex. As we grow, you\’ll play a hands-on role in shaping our platforms – helping us build for scale while staying flexible and fast-moving.

The Job:

As a Process Owner, you will play a pivotal role in designing new processes as well as reviewing and optimising existing ones. Working closely with the Head of Process, development, design, and operational teams, you’ll be responsible for analysing problems and delivering the right solutions for both key stakeholders and the business, ensuring that the solutions align with both short- and long-term goals. Your primary focus will be on optimising our systems and people productivity to support business growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of key processes in a fast-paced, high-impact role. You will work alongside passionate teams to tackle immediate challenges and implement solutions that pave the way for long-term success. As we scale, your insights and leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring we meet the evolving needs of the business.

The Job:

Define and Design Processes

  • Establish the scope, objectives and boundaries of a process
  • Design the end-to-end process flow to align with business goals
  • Identify key inputs, outputs, stakeholders and interactions

Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and develop business cases to support prioritisation within the development roadmap. Encourage culture of feedback and innovation
  • Ensure all process documentation is regularly reviewed, updated, and version-controlled to reflect approved changes, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment across teams

Align with Key Stakeholders

  • Collaborate with key teams to ensure the process supports the wider business needs
  • Clearly communicate process goals, changes and expectations
  • Resolve conflicts or process related bottlenecks

Issue Escalation & Stakeholder Impact

  • Proactively identify and escalate critical process issues, risks, or failures to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Communicate the business impact of process deviations clearly, ensure timely stakeholder awareness, and obtain key stakeholder sign-off where compromises to process integrity or performance are required.
  • Support resolution and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.

Monitor and Measure Performance

  • Analyse current process performance during scoping, including time taken, pain points, and areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate performance post-development to ensure changes deliver expected outcomes and benefits.
  • Track and report on key process metrics over time to identify trends, measure impact, and support continuous improvement.

Process Change & Development Support

  • Translate approved process changes into clear, actionable work packets for development teams.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure requirements are well-understood and feasible.
  • Validate that delivered changes align with process outcomes through user acceptance testing (UAT) and stakeholder review.

The Essentials:

  • Proven experience as a Process Owner, or in a similar role within a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Ability to work independently, driving solutions without constant oversight
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills – able to draw out the right information and level of detail from others, and translate it into clear, actionable requirements to create comprehensive process maps
  • Strong understanding of both customer-facing products (websites, apps, portals) and internal operational tools (CRM, sales apps, ticketing systems).
  • Confident juggling priorities and managing multiple workstreams and process improvements in different stages at the same time
  • Experience working in a fast-moving start-up environment, balancing speed of execution with structured delivery.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats – able to flex between what is needed depending on the process under review, from investigating the existing process, working with key stakeholders and managing the different wants from said stakeholders
  • Knowledge of tools like Visio, Bizagi, ARIS, or other BPMN software.
