Job Details:

  • Hours: Full time (Monday to Saturday, 45 hours a week, 7:30am – 5:30pm shift pattern). One Saturday per month, paid as overtime.
  • Salary: Competitive starting salary £34,000 - £36,000 per year. You can earn a target bonus of 20% of your salary, plus extra pay for one additional Saturday per month. With these incentives, on-target earnings can reach up to £42,000 per year.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Service Delivery Field Manager, the service engineer will carry out service visits to rectify issues with a customer’s fibre service. The service engineer plays a key role in keeping customers connected while maintaining outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primarily work on customer services but may be required to carry out installations and pre-pulls to a customer premises.
  • Manage the tools issued and the vehicle assigned to you as per our vehicle policy.
  • Complete service works within an agreed SLA (24hrs).
  • Complete assigned tasks on time and manage day-to-day jobs.
  • Follow service procedures, splice fibre, and test at multiple points throughout the service visit.
  • Install fibre cable to build specification and Openreach Pia policy.
  • Splice within Netomnia Fibre Network to the highest standard.
  • Maintain H&S compliance.
  • Work individually and as part of a team to achieve targets and KPIs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Experience working in a similar role, on or for the Openreach Network.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment and hazard identification, with a strong emphasis on Health and Safety practices.
  • Demonstrable experience in a networking engineering environment (preferred).
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Clear and concise communication abilities.
  • Physical fitness for manual handling tasks.
  • Ability to foster excellent working relationships within your team, with your manager, and with other teams, with an excellent customer service attitude.
  • A proactive approach to improving efficiencies and working smarter.

Qualifications (required):

  • Must hold a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
  • SA001, SA002, S7, S8, SA051c and SA020 IPAF 1b NRSWA unit 2 Splicing and testing SMART AWARDS preferable.
  • Have telecommunications experience or transferable skills.
