Netomnia – Maintenance Engineer – Carlisle
Location

Salary
£36,000 – £38,000 per year with a target bonus of 20% and extra pay for one additional Saturday per month, bringing on‑target earnings up to £44,000 per year.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Service Delivery Field Manager, the Maintenance Engineer provides first‑time customer service, resolving network issues, installing/replacing CBTs, splicing fiber, and performing minor civil works. The role supports installation and service engineers as sweeper support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform network maintenance and sweeper support, including occasional installations and pre‑pulls.
- Manage issued tools and assigned vehicle in accordance with vehicle policy.
- Complete service work within the agreed SLA of 24 hours.
- Follow procedures to splice fiber and test at multiple points.
- Install fiber cable and CBTs to meet Openreach and Netomnia specifications.
- Fault‑find and back‑trace outages to the exchange using OTDR.
- Carry out minor civil works on customer boundary, including blockage clearance.
- Maintain H&S compliance and high standard of splicing within Netomnia\’s fiber network.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve targets and KPIs.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience on the Openreach network or similar.
- Risk assessment and hazard identification skills with strong health and safety focus.
- Proven networking engineering experience.
- Organisational and communication skills.
- Physical fitness for manual handling.
- Teamworking with a customer‑service attitude.
- Proactive approach to improving efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence, minimum 12 months.
- SA001, SA002, S7, S8, SA051c.
- IPAF 1b.
- NRSWA unit 2 (minimum).
- Splicing and testing competency.
- SMART AWARDS preferred.
- Telecommunications experience or transferable skills.
