Nethermind is a blockchain research and software engineering company building high-performance infrastructure, security tooling, and cryptographic systems across the Ethereum ecosystem and beyond. We work closely with protocol teams, L2s, and ZK projects to help design, review, and secure cutting-edge decentralized systems.
We are looking for a Field Application Engineer to support customer demos, pilot deployments, technical troubleshooting, and partner-facing engineering work. This is a customer-facing technical role. You will help make sure demos work, pilots are supported, field issues are understood, and customer feedback reaches the engineering team quickly.
Responsibilities:
- Support technical demos with customers, operators, partners, and investors.
- Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot demo systems and pilot deployments.
- Travel between Bergamo, Zaragoza, and customer sites as needed.
- Work with engineering teams to diagnose field issues.
- Help customers understand technical requirements and deployment steps.
- Collect structured feedback from customers and partners.
- Create installation guides, troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and customer technical notes.
- Support pilot rollouts, hardware testing, software validation, and demo preparation.
Requirements:
- Experience in at least one of the following: Field application engineering, Field service engineering, Vending machine support, Payment terminal support, Retail automation, Kiosks, Industrial IoT, Hardware-plus-software deployment, Machine integration, Technical customer success for physical products.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems in front of customers.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Comfort with machines, devices, wiring, networking, logs, configuration, and field debugging.
- English required. Italian and/or Spanish strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
Must Haves:
- Experience with vending machine systems, payment terminals, telemetry, POS, kiosks, or retail automation.
- Experience supporting pilots or demos for industrial or retail technology products.
- Experience with Linux devices, networking, sensors, edge devices, or cloud-connected hardware.
- Experience working with both engineers and commercial teams.
Success in the first 90 days:
- You support successful demos in key European markets.
- You help the team understand customer technical requirements.
- You create the first customer-facing technical documentation.
- You identify repeatable field issues and help engineering prioritize fixes.
Success in the first 6-12 months:
- The company has reliable demo and pilot support across multiple sites.
- Customers see the company as technically competent and responsive.
- The field feedback loop into product and engineering is strong.
