Hours: 32½ hours per week – 39 weeks (term time + training days)
Salary: Grade 6 (Spinal Point 15–18) £33,392 – £35,867 FTE
Actual salary: £25,309 – £27,185 per annum (pro rata)
Netherhall Mead is a well‑resourced special school for pupils aged 4–19 with severe and profound multiple learning difficulties, part of The Mead Educational Trust. We are committed to ensuring every pupil achieves their very best—because “together we make a positive difference.”
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Intervenor to join our specialist team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real and lasting difference, supporting pupils with multisensory impairment and complex needs to access communication, learning and the world around them.
You will act as the pupil’s “eyes and ears” , helping them interpret their environment, develop communication, and build independence. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families, you will provide consistent, personalised support to meet individual needs.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide 1:1 support for pupils with complex learning, multi sensory and physical needs
· Deliver individualised programmes aligned to EHCP targets
· Use specialist communication strategies (symbols, signing, objects of reference, AAC)
· Enable access to learning, social interaction and wider school life
· Promote independence, communication and social development
· Provide personal care and health support
· Work collaboratively with staff, families and professionals
· Monitor and record pupil progress
The successful candidate will:
· Be patient, resilient and nurturing
· Work independently and as part of a team
· Hold a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
· Have GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
· Have experience working with children/young people (SEND desirable)
· Be willing to undertake specialist training
Experience working with pupils with SLD, PMLD, complex needs or sensory impairment is desirable but not essential. Full training and professional development will be provided.

The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS check. Applicants will also be required to undertake pre-employment checks which will include a declaration that neither they, nor anyone who lives in the same household, is a disqualified person under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2018 as well as other necessary checks.
