Overview
Hiring: Operations Manager (Hands-On) – Partner with the Founder and act as deputy to the business owners. Location: Strathaven, Scotland. We are a rapidly growing whisky start-up seeking a highly driven, hands-on Operations Manager who can personally manage production, logistics, compliance, and strategic growth.
This role is a unique opportunity to be the deputy and partner to the Business Owners, who remain actively hands-on in daily operations.
What You’ll Be Doing (Operations & Visitor Experience)
- Production & Logistics: From production bottling and packaging to driving a van/light truck for logistics, with full involvement in warehouse duties.
- Visitor Experience: Leading Warehouse Experience Tours and contributing to our future on-site bar and shop.
- Administration: Managing compliance, licensing applications, and official correspondence.
The Opportunity: Shaping the Netherfield Estate
Beyond daily operations, you will be heavily involved in the future development of the Netherfield Estate, including planning for expansion, construction works, and the establishment of our visitor bar and shop.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience & Drive: Proven experience in the whisky industry, with direct operational and production roles.
- Compliance: Expertise in regulatory documentation (licensing) and familiarity with basic accounting and corporate legislation.
- Mindset & Skills: Pro-active approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage operations, trade partners, and visitor interactions.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Physical & Licensing: Valid driving license for a van/light truck; willingness/ability to operate a forklift as needed.
- Commercial Aptitude: Prior experience or strong understanding of sales processes and commercial strategy within the spirits industry; practical knowledge of alcohol distribution networks and existing relationships with distributors.
