The Team

The Product Merchandising organization connects members to our world of entertainment by creating an engaging, relevant and delightful Netflix experience.

The team blends intuitive discovery with local expertise to position, promote and present content so members easily find what they will love.

Within this organization, the New Content Exploration (NCE) team of Product Managers leads the strategy to shape how Netflix members discover and engage with emerging content, including areas like games discovery, live streaming events, podcasts and more.

Our work spans all platforms (TV/living room, mobile, tablet, and web) and includes features across discovery/browse, player, profiles and new surfaces.

The Role

As Product Manager - Emerging Formats

, you will drive the evolution of discovery and engagement experiences for emerging content types as Netflix expands its offering.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to set the vision and conceive discovery experiences, features and capabilities that delight members.

You’ll define and convert concepts into a well-scoped project roadmap, prioritize effectively among competing efforts, and ensure the team executes at a high level.

As Netflix expands beyond traditional film and series, you’ll partner across the PM community to ensure the member experience vision and strategy for emerging formats fits into the larger product strategy (Live, Games, and more).

You will sit at the intersection of Product, Tech, Content and Production, serving as the "connective tissue" that ensures the product surface evolves in step with our content strategy.

Your mission is to define the product strategy, audience needs, roadmap and experimentation approach that allow diverse content types to thrive on a single, unified platform.

You will bring a collaborative mindset, curiosity and strong partnership skills when translating new content exploration goals into product strategy.

You must be comfortable at the hub of a fast-paced environment where you interface daily with cross-functional experts across technology and entertainment, balancing requirements and tradeoffs.

You should be capable of building alignment while pushing forward when there are critics, maintaining momentum in the face of ambiguity.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Drive the product strategy for emerging content types (e. g., podcasts) on Netflix.
  • Work through open-ended problems and identify opportunities to evolve discovery, capabilities or feature requirements.
  • Build a roadmap and take concepts from idea through validation, shipping, measurement and iteration.
  • Author strategy memos and presentations to communicate the team’s work and roadmap across the broader organization.
  • Proactively seek diverse viewpoints to focus on the most critical, strategic, and impactful work in the new content space.
  • Influence a cross-functional team across design, engineering, consumer insights, merchandising and data science to deliver outstanding products.
  • Build business cases and measure the impact of product innovation with data science partners.
  • Understand and socialize evolving member needs with consumer insights and design partners.
  • What You’ll Bring
  • 7+ years of experience developing consumer products and features with the ability to navigate complex tradeoffs.
  • Experience working on podcast and other emerging content streaming products at scale, with a strong understanding of the content lifecycle.
  • Ability to function as the end-to-end owner of the product development lifecycle from inception through planning to launch.
  • Demonstrated leadership across organizations to drive alignment.
  • Experience with A/B testing and strong business acumen with proficiency in identifying, tracking and acting on metrics, designing tests, and collaborating with data science partners.
  • Very high attention to detail and the ability to connect small experience elements to big-picture goals.
  • Excellent data-informed judgment and the ability to tell the right story with data.
  • Collaborative yet decisive, with clear communication of vision and openness to feedback.
  • Eagerness to seek feedback and improve.

The Product Merchandising organization embraces flexibility in location with a hybrid in-office model in Los Angeles or Los Gatos, or remote across the US.

Travel to CA offices may be required for remote team members for key meetings, and some leadership/team gatherings.

Availability to work in Pacific Time hours is required due to West Coast-based partners.

Compensation and Benefits

Generally, compensation is an annual salary with no additional bonuses.

You choose how much of your compensation is salary versus stock options.

The salary range for this role is $440,000.00 - $725,000.00, determined by market indicators and your qualifications.
