This role is responsible for operating equipment and executing metal finishing processes to ensure high-quality product output. The Plating Technician I handles parts through chemical and thermal treatments such as etching, degreasing, and plating while following strict procedures, monitoring process conditions, and maintaining accurate production records.

This role is essentially a hands-on manufacturing position focused on running plating processes, handling materials, and ensuring quality through chemical treatment and inspection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load and unload parts using baskets, racks, or barrels for cleaning, etching, desmutting, pickling, bright dipping, and plating processes.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to properly stage and process materials through chemical tanks.
  • Monitor processing times and remove parts promptly to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Inspect finished parts for defects and verify compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor and record chemical solution temperatures and process conditions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tanks, equipment, and work areas.
  • Assist with chemical handling, solution maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Operate electric hoists and perform manual material handling throughout production.
  • Maintain accurate daily production logs and documentation for all processes.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions and standard procedures.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry related to metal finishing preferred.
  • Ability to solve routine problems using standard procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and use hands and arms frequently.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds regularly.
  • Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with depth perception.
  • Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
